ASRANet’s International Conference on The Decommissioning of Offshore & Subsea Structures DECOM 2020 took place on 7th and 8th December 2020. The conference explored the recent trends and innovative technologies in use in the decommissioning of offshore and subsea structures, and featured high quality papers drawing on the experiences of leading projects to showcase new innovations in technology for the future of offshore and subsea industries with the particular focus on their decommissioning. It had some 50 papers and 100 participants, strongly centred on its themes, and brought together a 50/50 mix of internationally leading academics and industry, facilitating close interactions between the two sectors.
Professor Richard Neilson, NDC Director presented on 7th December between 10:50 – 11:10 during Session 2 hosted by Dr Piotr Omenzetter of the University of Aberdeen. His invited paper was on Smart Basin – Simulating Decommissioning. Adam Arfaoui, PhD student at the NDC presented on 8th December between 11:40 – 12:00 during Session 5 Decom Tools hosted by Prof. Purnendu Das of ASRANet Ltd, UK. His presentation was on Site Dara Protocol for Offshore Oil & Gas Decommissioning.
