Researchers at the NDC were delighted to welcome the general public on Saturday, 16 September as part of the Doors Open Days festival.
Children (and adults!) loved the polystyrene cup ‘pressure test’ experiment and were thrilled to take home their tiny cups after they had been ‘shrunk’ in our pressure testing vessel which is used for testing equipment and components destined for use in offshore marine operations.
We had 115 people come through our doors over the course of the day and our researchers were delighted to show our visitors around the immersive marine simulator and facilities including the deep water tank, vibration table, environmental chambers and the underwater laser cutting system.
Short talks on research projects also proved very popular as well as an overview to the NDC from the Centre Manager, Dr Karen McArdle.
