Many congratulations to our NDC PhD student, Jessica Gomez-Banderas that her presentation was chosen as one of the three best oral communications at the 12th European Conference on Marine Natural Products held 30th August – 1st September 2021.

ECMNP was Jessica’s first international conference at which she had been accepted to present her research findings and it had been a fantastic event. Even though the conference was hosted virtually, Jessica thoroughly enjoyed the experience of sharing her work with others in her field and learning from other researchers who are conducting research in the field of marine natural products.

Jessica’s PhD is researching the discovery of natural product antifouling compounds to prevent marine biofouling of immersed structures.  She is supervised by Prof. Marcel Jaspars (Chair in Chemistry, School of Natural and Computing Sciences) and Prof. Frithjof Kuepper (MASTS Chair in Marine Biodiversity, School of Biological Sciences).
