The SCI Scotland Group successfully hosted their annual Afternoon of Science and Careers event at the new University of Aberdeen Science Teaching Hub on 18th January 2023.   SCI® (Society of Chemical Industry) is a global network of innovators, formed in 1881 by prominent scientists, inventors and entrepreneurs, who went on to form the products, processes and companies that propelled society forward.  SCI is the place where science meets business.

Our NDC PhD Student Jessica Gomez-Banderas led for the first time the organisation of an in person seminar-type event and did an excellent job.  It was a great afternoon filled with brilliant speakers across many different topics including sustainable medical devices, careers in the energy sector, careers post-PhD and entrepreneurship.

Our Centre Manager, Karen McArdle, joined a number of industry and academic speakers, giving an overview of how the NDC brings academics and industry together to address industry-led challenges and opportunities
