Innovation through Partnership
The National Decommissioning Centre is a global leader in research and development which transforms decommissioning for the energy sector.

NDC Overview Video
A three-minute video providing an overview of the National Decommissioning Centre. Working with the oil and gas, nuclear and renewables sectors the NDC’s Research and Development covers decommissioning technologies, predictive modelling, environmental assessment, economic modelling and law and regulation. Marine Simulator Explained
Research Fellow Dr Alicia Terroro Gonzalez explains how the immersive marine simulator is used to trial and de-risk novel offshore wind technology and decommissioning scenarios. By providing a virtual, safe, and repeatable environment, the simulator enables researchers and industry partners to test operations and technology in a wide range of climatic and sea state conditions. Read more in the NDC’s Renewables Case Studies and on the Marine Simulator page.
Underwater laser cutting solution for decommissioning
The National Decommissioning Centre and Claxton have developed an underwater laser cutting solution which offers a revolutionary alternative to conventional methods. The technology brings to the market a low-carbon, quick and clean technology which has many benefits when compared with conventional cutting methods, including reducing the time and cost to perform decommissioning activities.

Floating Offshore Wind 2025
